JOB TITLE: Managing Director, Japan
LOCATION: Tokyo, Japan
REPORTS TO: Vice President
We are seeking a Managing Director to help start up and expand our business in Asia. This person will help strengthen our brands in the Japan market. This is a challenging and crucial role within a very global-minded company, assuming overall day-to-day responsibility for our Japan operation in addition to working with the global management team on the strategic development and growth of our regional business. This position reports to the Vice President, Business Development & International.
Responsibilities
Develops and directs short- and long-term regional objectives consistent with the global strategy of the company;
Plans for, directs, and manages the Japan office to achieve high quality of service and customer satisfaction;
Participates in financial modeling and strategic planning with the global management team to grow its PC, console, and electronic distribution businesses in Japan;
Conducts regional activities in accordance with the approved guidelines;
Oversees and directs research and analysis of activities and provides recommendations to global management for improvements of the business;
Coordinates divisional operations and ensures synchronization of activities with global HQ;
Ensures that our business conforms with country and regional laws and regulations;
Establishes and maintains quality community and communication activities;
Manages relations with distributors and partners;
Reviews organization and staffing plans to ensure that they are consistent with the division’s objectives. Designs and recommends division salary and personnel programs; and
Resolves operating problems and informs global management team of problems of major significance or public importance.
Qualifications
5 or more years computer related industry experience; at least 3 years at a senior leadership level;
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Japanese;
Ability to work and thrive in a global thinking environment;
Strong organizational, analytical, and presentation skills;
Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and to meet deadlines;
Ability to work well in a team environment with various internal organizations (such as customer service, marketing, public relations, legal, headquarters executives and teams);
Energetic, smart, confident, humble, discrete, and intellectually curious; and
Minimum of Bachelor's Degree;
This is a full-time position in Tokyo, Japan. The candidate will be required to relocate to Tokyo. No commuters will be considered.
